PEASO HAS A BIG ROLE TO PLAY
26th July 2016
Derek McInnes today stressed that striker Peter MacDonald still has a very large part to play in Saints’ title aspirations this season.
The long-serving front man has started only three games this season and watched last week’s game at East End Park from the stand but he featured and scored in a bounce game on Tuesday against Morton at Cappielow and Derek says he remains very much in his plans.
“Peaso is training hard and his chance to get back into the side will come along. He was a bit unlucky not to be on the bench at Dunfermline but I had already decided that Gavin Swankie and Collin Samuel would be two of the subs and I felt the inclusion of Peaso would have made it too attack-orientated a bench and as it turned out I needed Steven Anderson available to me for defensive cover. Peaso’s a natural goal scorer and we will need plenty of options up front as the season progresses. I can’t justify changing the front two at the moment because they are doing very well but Peaso, Collin Samuel and Andy Jackson are all waiting in the wings and they will all have a part to play.â€
Kevin James, Collin Samuel and Alan Morgan also scored in a 4-2 win at Cappielow in a game which Derek described as a “very good workout against a strong Morton side†and these players will get another run out this coming Monday when Saints face Arbroath in a Reserve League Cup match at McDiarmid Park at 7.45pm.
