ST JOHNSTONE V HIBERNIAN UPDATES
26th July 2016
FULL-TIME - A late goal from the visitors, coupled with a penalty miss by Nigel Hasslebaink has given Hibs a 1-0 win at McDiarmid Park tonight. Further blows for Saints in the dying minutes of the game came in the form of a red card for Dave Mackay, Steve Lomas being sent to the stand and David Robertson being stretchered off with a suspected broken leg. Match report coming up......
HALF-TIME - It's goalless here at McDiarmid Park after 45 minutes which has seen Saints enjoy by far the bulk of possession without creating too much.
The opening 35 minutes of the game was turgid in the extreme with not a single effort on goal but as the half drew to a close, Saints looked to make their territorial advantage count.
The Hibs defence are not happy at handling Gregory Tade and fouls on the big striker brought our two best chances - both free kicks on the edge of the box in the closing minutes of the half. The first one was hit by Dave Mackay but was deflected wide for a corner and the second one from Liam Craig was also deflected - the ball skimming off the head of a Hibs defender and hitting the bar.
Dominance from Saints - but we need a goal as a reward.
