LOAN WATCH | McCann and Anderson in action

26th March 2019

Tuesday 26 March 2019

Of the Saints players out on-loan it was just Ali McCann (Stranraer) and Steven Anderson (Partick Thistle) in action at the weekend for their respective clubs.

Ali helped ten-man Stranraer to a big point against the League One leaders Arbroath, while Ando returned from injury for Partick in a 2-1 defeat against Inverness.

Ali McCann (Stranraer)

Ali played the full 90 minutes and did very well for a Stranraer side reduced to ten men before half-time against league leaders Arbroath.

The Stair Park outfit managed to come away with a draw though with Ali playing a pivotal role in the match.

The young midfielder had an early chance after playing a neat one-two with Grant Anderson but his effort went over the crossbar.

He also nearly turned provider later in the game when he fizzed in what was described on Stranraer's official Twitter account as "a glorious ball" for his teammate Anderson but he couldn't convert the chance.

Next up for Ali and Stranraer is a big match against Brechin City this evening. Stranraer lie two points and one place above Brechin in the League One table.

Steven Anderson (Partick Thistle)

Ando returned for Partick on Friday night having been ruled out of the previous match with concussion but he couldn't stop the visitors Inverness from winning 2-1 at Firhill.

It was a disappointing defeat for Partick who remain in 9th place in the Championship table, one point behind QoS and Falkirk in 7th and 8th place respectively.

Next up for Ando and Partick it's a trip to Cappielow Park to face Greenoc Morton on Saturday afternoon.

Kyle McClean (Linfield) and O'Reilly, Ballantyne & Quigley (BSC Glasgow)

Kyle McClean has been away this week in Spain with the Northern Ireland U21 squad for a week-long training camp in Estepona.

They have played two friendlies in that time against Bulgaria and Mexico with Kyle starting against the Bulgarians in the first match down on the Costa del Sol.

The midfielder's next match for league leaders Linfield is against Ballymena United on Friday 5th April.

BSC Glasgow didn't have a game at the weekend but played in a friendly match against Ayr United in which they lost 4-0. Euan O'Reilly started for the Reserves and Ben Quigley came off the bench during the 3-0 defeat against Hamilton yesterday.

Cammy Ballantyne continues his recovery from injury. Next up for BSC Glasgow is Dalbeattie Star on Saturday 6th April.
