Match preview - Dundee

A trip along the A90 to face Dundee in the Scottish Premiership is next up for St Johnstone.

The rearranged fixture at Dens Park kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday as Saints look to bounce back from Wednesday’s narrow 1-0 defeat against Hearts.

Craig Levein’s side currently sit 10th in the Premiership standings but a win this weekend would lift them to sixth.

The teams met earlier in the season at McDiarmid Park when Max Kucheriavyi’s double earned a point in a 2-2 draw.

Ahead of Sunday’s game, Levein said: “I’m looking forward to the match and I’m hoping we can put on a really good display.

“Dundee will have energy and aggression. They have good football players as well. Tony Docherty has put together a good side and we need to recognise that.”

Recent January signings are continuing to settle well.

“The guys we have brought in are settling and look like they will be good additions,” Levein said. “I’m hopeful we can really start moving with consistent performances.

“I do feel we have the firepower in the forward line now to be creating more chances and scoring more chances. At the same time, hopefully we can keep defending the way we have been.”

It will likely be a late call for who is available for selection. Liam Gordon, David Keltjens, Dan Phillips and Matt Smith all missed Wednesday’s game.

Supporter information

Supporters are reminded that Sunday’s game kicks-off at 2pm.

The McDiarmid Park supporters’ buses will leave the stadium at 12.15pm.

Fans should also note that this is our first visit to Dundee since the new matchday exclusion zone for parking has been introduced around Dens Park and Tannadice. Maps and information are attached.

Parking within the exclusion zone during event times is restricted to local residents/permit holders only. Fines of £100 are issued to anyone contravening this.

Disabled parking is available on the east side of Provost Road, both sides of N Isla Street, east side of Hindmarsh Avenue, west side of Arklay Street, Sandeman Street and Strathmore Street.

Pre-purchased ticket orders that were not collected by 4pm on Friday will be available for collection from MAIN RECEPTION at Dens Park on Sunday. There WILL be a cash gate at Dens - no card payments.

LAST TIME OUT

SAINTS

Saints suffered a tight 1-0 defeat on Wednesday night as Hearts visited McDiarmid Park. A single Lawrence Shankland goal was enough to split the sides, but Saints did have chances to take something from the game.

Striker Benjamin Kimpioka was once again looking sharp in the final third and Nicky Clark had a header cleared off the line in the second half.

New signing Adama Sidibeh also had a couple of half chances late on, but ultimately Saints fell short.

There were plenty of positives to take for Levein’s side however, and the team will be looking to take those into Sunday’s trip to the City of Discovery.

DUNDEE

Dundee also lost in midweek when they took on St Mirren in Paisley. Mikael Mandron and Toyosi Olusanya grabbed the goals for the Buddies as they defeated Tony Docherty’s side.
