Motherwell Match Preview
6th November 2023

Saints host Motherwell at McDiarmid Park in the cinch Premiership this Tuesday.
LAST TIME OUT
SAINTS
An early double from Nicky Clark saw ten-man Saints secure their first league win of the season as they defeated Kilmarnock 2-1 at McDiarmid Park.
Saints took the lead in the first minute of the match as Clark fired home on the rebound on 44 seconds after Chris Kane had seen his initial strike parried by Will Dennis in the Killie goal.
Clark then got his and Saints second of the game on 7 minutes as he headed home a Graham Carey free kick.
Kilmarnock pulled themselves back into the game 2 minutes into the second half as Kyle Vassell slide in to volley home a Matty Kennedy cross.
With 15 minutes remaining Saints were reduced to ten men after Dara Costelloe was sent off following a VAR review for a high challenge on Kennedy. However, Saints saw the game out to secure a vital 3 points.
MOTHERWELL
Motherwell continued their run without a win with a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday.
Innes Cameron’s goal in the 48th minute was all that separated the two sides at Rugby Park.
The Steelmen had a couple of chances to go into the break with a lead but neither Wilkinson nor Biereth could find the target. Wilkinson was first to have a go from the edge of the box, with his left footed strike going just wide of the mark. Biereth held the ball up before acrobatically smashing the ball just over the bar on the break.
Minutes after the break the home side took the lead.
A shot from range was parried by Kelly before Watson picked up the rebound and squared it to Cameron who fired into the net.

CRAIG LEVEIN PREVIEW
Craig Levein spoke to the media for the first time as boss to preview the Motherwell match.
"I've learned quite a lot from my last job in particular, about having the energy to cope with the demands of the job," said Levein.
"I did think that coming into a role in the Premiership and trying to do everything again would just be a horrendous mistake.
"So, I feel that I've got Alex Cleland here, who knows St Johnstone, the club and the players; there's Andy Kirk and myself so I feel we can split whatever duties there are so that everybody's doing what they're good at.
