St Johnstone WFC manager Kev Candy is pleased with the selection headache facing him ahead of this Sunday’s trip to Stirling University.

The Saints sit fifth in the Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 and are looking to apply further pressure on those above them.

A closed-doors friendly last weekend kept legs ticking over and now the team is fully prepared for their latest test against the students.

“The break was good,” Candy said. “We identified that we wanted to keep the squad active last weekend and had a closed doors friendly against a Premier League 1 side.

“It was extremely useful, certainly more productive than just having the girls in training. We got minutes into the legs for those who really needed it and we tried a few things on the park tactically.”

He added: “Megan Paterson was able to get on the field last Sunday with her back issues clearing up and Hannah Clark started for the first time in a number of months. That was extremely pleasing and certainly put a smile on her face.

“We’re pretty much looking at a full, healthy squad at the moment.”

Saints recently got the better of Stirling University when five second half goals secured an important three points.

“We don’t dwell too much on the opposition, purely because we have belief in our own style of play and the football decisions we make on the field,” Candy said.

“We focus on what we need to do well whilst taking on board, to a certain degree, what the opposition might try to do well against us.

“Stirling really pushed us the last time we played them. We only played them three or four weeks ago, so there is not going to be too much change in terms of personnel.

“In no way shape or form will we be underestimating them, despite our results against them previously.”

Kick-off at Stirling University on Sunday is 2pm.
