YOUTHS BOW OUT OF SFA YOUTH CUP
26th July 2016
The Saints Under 19 side bowed out of this season’s SFA Youth Cup in disappointing fashion at Dunfermline today despite playing with a one man advantage for 55 minutes.
The game at East End Park was goalless at the interval but the Pars had defender Millen sent off ten minutes before half-time when he was booked twice in the space of two minutes.
However, if that led to those present thinking that Saints would prevail in the second half then it was the wrong assumption.
Certainly, we took the lead nine minutes after the restart when Ricky McIntosh was set clear by Ryan Hutchinson and the Under 19 league’s top goal scorer made no mistake from the edge of the box but the home side levelled the game midway through the second half.
With four minutes remaining the ten men grabbed what proved to be the winner and there was no way back for Saints.
SAINTS: Worby, Caddis, Steeves, Stewart, Moffat, Rodger, Thomson (McConnell), McIntosh, Hutchinson, Gray, Hendry. Subs not used: Reid, Still, Mitchell
