Saints sign Panda as Brogan moves on
1st April 2020
Players and staff were left distraught at the news that Brogan the Beagle has signed for St. Mirren in the early hours of this morning in a part-exchange deal involving the Paisley Panda. The Manager awoke to discover the news.
“I don’t understand - I thought he was happy here. He got on so well with the players. They even added him to the WhatsApp group, that’s how well respected he was around the club,” he said.
David Wotherspoon was fighting back tears as he spoke to the media this morning.
“I’m in shock. I was only playing him at FIFA last night. We found out this morning when we realised he had removed himself from the WhatsApp group,” the Canadian international said.
“Who am I going to high five now? Michael O’Halloran?!”
Club Captain Jason Kerr took it upon himself to welcome Brogan’s incoming replacement, saying: “We’re all disappointed and feel cheated by the way Brogan has conducted himself but on behalf of all the players I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new mascot, the Perth Panda.
“I’ve heard only positive things from the guys at St Mirren and I think he’ll fit in just fine with the boys. We’ve got a Zoom conference call scheduled later today where he’ll formally meet the players and we’ll have the chance to get to know him better."
In a statement released by the Buddies this morning, their manager Jim Goodwin spoke of his admiration for Brogan.
“We’re delighted to have Brogan on board,” Jim said.
"I approached Tommy in the summer regarding buying Brogan. I can’t repeat what he said but the answer was no. However, when our people spoke to Brogan’s agent last week, a few biscuits were offered and now he’s part of the St. Mirren team,” the Buddies boss said.
Fans took to twitter to vent their frustrations at Brogan’s departure.
“He’s not welcome back here”, an angry fan vented.
“Beagles have no brains at all. I’m not surprised,” another fan said.
However, St Mirren fans welcomed the news.
“It’s about time! What a great signing - can’t wait to see him in action."
Brogan was approached for a comment but refused.
